During a recent guest lecture at the University of South Carolina, Jody Hawkins, VP of IT Operations & Development, shared his background and experiences and provided insights into the importance of understanding technology’s big picture within an organization to allow for critical thinking and decision-making when faced with issues, challenges, and opportunities.
Students in the Management of Information Technology class, taught by Dr. Ken Mulchahey, study current practices and trends in end-user technology and information system management. Mr. Hawkins highlighted the crucial role of IT in driving business growth and success, citing examples where he used IT to enhance efficiency and streamline business operations. He emphasized the need for IT professionals to collaborate with other departments within an organization and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
