Michael A. Culbertson, CPCU, AIC
President
Michael Culbertson, President, is a talented insurance professional with vast institutional knowledge who has earned the strong respect of his colleagues at Seibels Bruce and the insurance industry at large.
A seasoned insurance executive, Culbertson has 24 years of insurance experience with emphasis in claims and operations. Prior to his current position, he has played an integral role in Seibels Bruce's businesses, from managing insurance operations and crafting strategic marketing alliances to creating the Company's claim-handling subsidiary, Insurance Network Services, Inc.
Culbertson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Insurance from the University of South Carolina. Culbertson also holds a Certificate in General Insurance, Associate in Claims and is a designated Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter.
Bryan D. Rivers, CPA
Chief Financial Officer
Bryan Rivers, Chief Financial Officer, directs the Company's accounting, finance and treasury management activities. He is also responsible for the Company's financial reporting to management, the Board of Directors and shareholders, as well as its statutory financial reporting to various departments of insurance.
Rivers joined Seibels Bruce in 1999 as Controller after working eight years with a national accounting firm where he gained experience with a wide range of accounting, auditing and business advisory services. He was promoted to Treasurer and Controller in 2002 and to Chief Financial Officer in 2007.
Rivers graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with a major in Accounting. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.
Gregory L. Spray
Senior Vice President and General Manager
Universal Insurance Company
Greg Spray is a highly qualified insurance professional experienced in general management and senior leadership. As Senior Vice President and General Manager of Seibels Bruce's Winston-Salem based subsidiary, Universal Insurance Company, Spray is responsible for directing that company's nonstandard automobile and commercial lines operations with a focus on sales growth, underwriting profitability and expense control. Spray has served as a member of the Board of Governors on the North Carolina Reinsurance Facility (NCRF)
since 2001 and was recently reappointed by the North Carolina Commissioner of Insurance to another three year term. He is also the Chair of the Compliance Committee for the NCRF.
Spray was previously employed for seven years with GMAC Insurance in Winston-Salem, formerly Integon Corporation. As Vice President and Division Manager, he developed the national sales organization to increase nationwide sales and marketing efforts, directed major projects for product managers and systems programmers, and was responsible for overseeing the development and pricing of nonstandard automobile products. Prior to that role, Spray spent four successful years as Vice President of Personal Lines Insurance for Tyson Insurance Services, where he was responsible for all office operations of this independent insurance agency.
Spray brings extensive insurance experience through his work in the industry since 1970 and exceptional management skills through his training in team leadership and personnel development. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University.
S. Melinda Hydrick
Vice President, Information Technology
Melinda Hydrick, Vice President of Information Technology, establishes and directs the strategic goals, policies and procedures related to the Company's information technology usage. Her range of responsibilities includes strategic technology planning, data center operations, application development, telecommunications, and network and infrastructure support.
She joined Seibels Bruce in 1984 working in the actuarial department. In 1986, she moved to the SC Health & Human Services Finance Commission as an information resource coordinator before returning to Seibels Bruce in 1988 to supervise the distributed information support center. She has held various management positions within the Information Systems department of the Company since her return in 1988 and was named vice president in 1999.
Hydrick received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Francis Marion College with a focus on computer science and has received a Certificate in General Insurance and Associate in Automation Management, both from the Insurance Institute of America.
Stephen T. Harding
Vice President, Insurance Management Services
As Vice President, Insurance Management Services, Steve Harding is responsible for the Company’s underwriting management and claims administration services. This includes operational and profit center responsibility for Insurance Network Services, Inc. (INS), the Company's claims administration subsidiary. He is also responsible for all operational elements of the Company’s underwriting management service agreements.
Harding joined Seibels Bruce in 1996 as policy processing manager for the South Carolina Reinsurance Facility servicing contract. He was promoted to vice president of South Carolina automobile operations in 1998; vice president, underwriting, in 2000; and vice president, services, in 2001. These positions involved profit center and operational responsibility for personal automobile, flood and commercial lines.
Prior to joining Seibels Bruce in August 1996, Steve spent over eight years with GEICO in personal lines claims, sales and customer service.
Harding received a bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Finance from Florida Atlantic University.
A well-rounded insurance executive with experience in many different areas, Steve's current role as vice president, insurance management services, allows him to bring together the knowledge he has gained in the insurance industry to benefit Seibels Bruce and its customers.
